Kanku Dai – greater version
Kanku Sho – lesser version
From the Chinese attache to Okinawa of that name or title Kung Shang K’ung
Also known as Kwanku/Kusanku/Kushanku/Kosokun/Koshokun.
As a kata, Kusanku allegedly goes back to Tode Sakugawa Most styles however use forms traceable either to Matsumura or Chatan Yara.Most of Shurite’s Kusanku forms derive ultimately from Matsumura. Itosu’s Kusanku Dai is considered a simplified version of Matsumura Kusanku, while Kusanku Sho was Itosu’s creation
